Can I eat or drink in the library?

To protect our collections, facilities, and the learning commons’ experience for all users please adhere to the following: 

  1. Permitted Consumption Areas 

  • Common areas and group study rooms 

  1. Restricted Consumption Areas 

  • Testing Centers 

  • Library Bookshelves 

  1. Permitted Types of Food and Drinks 

  • Light snacks such as granola bars/pretzels and non-alcoholic drinks in spill-proof containers for one individual  

  1. Restricted Types of Food and Drinks 

  • Full meals, strong smelling items, heated/messy/sticky foods 

  • Food deliveries and coordinated parties 

  1. Personal Responsibility 

  • Users are responsible for cleaning up after themselves. Please dispose of trash before exiting the Learning Commons 

  • Please report spills immediately to prevent facility damage 

  1. Disruptive Behaviors 

  • Consuming food and drink should not disturb other users. Loud noises (crinkling bags, loud group discussions, etc.) and strong odors may result in a request to stop eating or drinking or to leave the area.  All learning commons’ college representatives reserve the right to discern what constitutes disruptive food and drink events.
